Patagonia Lake State Park -
High up in the Patagonia Mountains near the Old West mining town of Patagonia you'll find, Patagonia Lake State Park, a popular lake for boating, fishing and birdwatching. Bordering Patagonia Lake State Park, you'll also find the newly formed Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, where you can book a boat tour or embark on guided hikes andbirdwatching tours.
Lake Fishing -
Patagonia Lake itself is 2 1/2 miles long and thanks to year-round stocking, you can fish for rainbow trout in the winter and at other times, cast a line for bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. While you do your Patagonia Lake fishing, you'll also find a picnic ground, and beachfor swimming.
State Park Birdwatching -
Bring your binoculars for some of the area's best birdwatching, found at Patagonia Lake. Some of the most prized spottings at Patagonia Lake are the colorful trogons, a rare tropical bird named after the Greek word for nibbling and thought to be 49 million years old based on fossil records. These beautiful birds make their nest by gnawing holesin trees.
